Let's DMZ

What does DMZ(Demilitarized Zone) mean to us living in the present? The word of division represents the reality that has penetrated the Korean Peninsula for more than 70 years.

In the 70-year history, our consciousness repeats the words connected with the division, including North and South, War, dispersed families and peace.

The thing is that the moments when this stream of consciousness is felt like these superficial words at some point are getting longer.

From the perspective of the postwar generation of Korea who have not experienced the war, those of ‘North and South’, ‘War’, ‘Dispersed Families’ and ‘Peace’ which have become superficial words cannot be understood.

The current generations believe that the realistic peace comes only when acknowledging each other’s differences must be preceded, rather than the peace and reunification perceived by the postwar generation. In this sense, we have to think about whether we have been looking at the North and the South from a one-sided standpoint for the past 40 years after the war, caught up in ideological conflicts.
